From Asian Film Business:

Director SUN Zhou 孫周 and a terrific lead trio keep the China rom-com bar high withI Do 我願意 (2012), which manages to come up with a fresh twist on male-female relationships in aspirational, urban-yuppie New China.

The film is adapted from a 2009 novel Yes, I Do 我願意 by Beijing-based writer/scriptwriter CHEN Tong 陳彤, whose practical advice on marriage and relationships has earned her the nickname "a female Zhuge Liang" (諸葛亮, after the master strategist of the Three Kingdoms period). That extra depth to Chen's writing carries over into the screenplay, which takes the cliche of a thirtysomething careerist deciding to look for a husband and manages to treat it in a way that's not reliant on rom-com plot twists. Hot topics like "How much is love worth?" or "Do women want just a bank account on legs or a man who's reliable?" that fuel Mainland game shows and dating programmes get a good workout in the dialogue without becoming preachy or disturbing the entertainment. And though the final act, after a hardly surprising twist, comes down in favour of "Yes, a little money wouldn't hurt either", the film still packs considerable emotional clout.

Sur le film :
Chine et films : La Chine à travers le cinéma chinois

Northern China, 1999. The grisly discovery of several corpses is made in a small town. A bloody incident during the attempt to capture the alleged murderer leaves two police officers dead and another badly injured. The surviving officer Zhang Zili is suspended from duty; he takes a job as a security guard at a factory. Five years later, another series of mysterious murders occurs. Aided by a former colleague, Zhang decides to investigate under his own initiative. He discovers that all the victims were connected to Wu Zhizhen, a young woman who works at a dry cleaners. Pretending to be a customer, Zhang begins to observe her and finds himself falling in love with the reticent Wu Zhizhen. One cold winter's day he makes a horrific discovery. His life now in danger, he realises it is not always possible to separate guilt from innocence. Diao Yinan's use of the characters of the ex-police officer and the femme fatale is a direct reference to classic detective films. This director's third feature is a noirish thriller in drained colours which, whilst playfully alluding to the genre, also invites us into the lives of very ordinary people.

The novel is a fictionalized account of the legendary pilgrimage to India of the Buddhist monk Xuanzang, and loosely based its source from the historic text Great Tang Records on the Western Regions and traditional folk tales. The monk travelled to the "Western Regions" during the Tang Dynasty, to obtain sacred texts (sūtras). Guanyin, on instruction from the Buddha, gives this task to the monk and his three protectors in the form of disciples — namely Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing — together with a dragon prince who acts as Xuanzang's steed, a white horse. These four characters have agreed to help Xuanzang as an atonement for past sins.

Chinese Movie No Man's Land 无人区 Finally Gets Greenlighted by Beijing Censors Due to Violence

-Look interesting...

Release Date: 03.12.2013
Cast: Bo Huang
Director: Ning Hao

Ning Hao's 'No Man's Land' to Premiere After Finally Passing China's Censors - China Real Time Report - WSJ:

The film tells of the adventures of a lawyer who drives to the deserts of China’s far west and on his way back encounters a multitude of characters, from strippers to smugglers to murderers.
“The film’s story is like ‘Journey to the West,’” Mr. Ning said, referring to the classic Chinese novel about a pilgrimage made by a Buddhist monk along with his disciples. The group, like the lead character in the film, encounter many evil characters along the route.
Mr. Ning said he and his team majorly revised the film twice, though local media reported that it was pulled from theaters’ schedules six times after wrapping up production four years ago. He said his busy schedule contributed to delays in the revisions, thus postponing the release date. He also said he softened the tone of the film’s ending to make it “return to the mainstream society.”

New Hollywood Movie "Dragon Day" Paints a Scary Picture of a Crippling Cyber Attack on the US

-An NSA Agent is the hero? No chance.

'Dragon Day' Trailer

Director: Jeffrey Travis

Starring: Ethan Flower, Åsa Wallander, Jenn Gotzon

A family getaway to a mountain town turns deadly when China launches a massive cyberattack against the USA, forcing former NSA engineer Duke Evans to fight to save his wife and daughter in the New World Order.
Dragon Day (2013) Poster

Some are already talking about it:

While some might take comfort in the fact that this is "just a movie," according to Defense Tech, an American-designed, Chinese-made microchip used in defense applications was recently discovered to have a virus hardwired into it. The article states:Basically, Chinese cyber spies can use the chip's built-in malware to decipher military passcodes and gain remote access to the chip and reprogram it to do their bidding; 'permitting a new and disturbing possibility of a large-scale Stuxnet-type attack via a network or the Internet on the silicon itself,'...This discovery has led experts to worry that all Chinese manufactured chips may have similar vulnerabilities.Furthermore, the events depicted in the movie are almost indistinguishable from what would happen following an Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) attack. EMP is the result of either an unusually large solar storm or high altitude detonation of an atomic bomb. It roasts electrical circuitry. As in the movie, aircraft would fall from the sky, transportation would cease, and energy, food and water supplies would vanish. Iran has conducted missile tests believed to be test runs for EMP attacks.

Stephen Chow's Newest New Year Epic: Journey to the West - Conquering the Demons

-WTF???  Where's Song Wu Kong?

The misadventures of a Buddhist monk as he makes a pilgrimage from China to India.

After a year of keeping quiet to the general public on Journey to the West (西游•降魔篇), director/writer/producer Stephen Chow finally unveiled the first concept teaser for his fantasy comedy in a press conference held in China recently.

Chow said he no longer plays a major role in this film and focused more on the directing aspect of the production. Chow remained tight-lipped on the plot but revealed there is a love story, and his special brand of humour is presented as with all his previous films. The production company Huayi Brothers plans to create the most spectacular domestic special effects film in China that is on-par with Hollywood blockbuster standards.

Even though shooting was finished since early of last year, there was a long period of post-production at Macrograph that was required to complete a large proportion of the computer special effects involving creatures, magic and supernatural elements. The concept teaser shown to the press is still an incomplete work-in-process and doesn't necessary reflect a finished version. A sequel to continue the ongoing Monkey King saga is definitely in the works, hence the "Journey - Fell Monsters Chapter" in the literal translation of the title.

As mentioned previously, Derek Kwok (Gallants) is the co-director and the cast includes Shu Qi, Bo Huang, Zhang Wen, Show Luo and Chrissie Chow. The theatrical release date is tentatively during the Spring Festival in 2013.

No Wonder Chinese Only Want Sons: "Saving General Yang" new War Epic Movie Trailer

-Looks really bloody...

Saving General Yang Official Trailer #1 (2013) - Hong Kong War Epic Movie HD

The story of the Yang's has been eulogized for hundreds of years in the Chinese society. It details the exploits of the Yang military family, recounting the unflinching loyalty of the Yang family heirs. The plot places focus on how the seven sons of the Yang family held hands in the rescue of their father.

Generals of the Yang Family is a collection of folk talesplays and novels detailing the military exploits of the Yang family over several generations during the earlier years of Northern Song Dynasty of ancient China. The stories recount the unflinching loyalty and remarkable bravery of the Yangs, and of how they defended Song's borders from foreign invaders. While several generals of the Yang family are profiled in historical texts such as History of Song, most of the popular tales deviate from actual historical records.

The Generals of Yang Family - China's Excellent Comic Books (Chinese Edition)

This album is adapted on the basis of the historical novel of the same name, which describes in the Northern Song Dynasty the generals of the Yang family resisted the invasion of the Liao Nation. Yang JiYe was the famous general of the Northern Han Dynasty in the Five Dynasties period who later submitted the Song Dynasty and changed his name into Yang Ye. Yang's family had a courageous and smart father and sons, who in the anti-liao war repeatedly distinguished themselves, but were framed by the chief commander Pan RenMei against death. Yang Liulang who survived the plot followed his father's footsteps and for many times frustrated the invading Liao army and successfully kept the integrity of the territory of the Song Dynasty. The legend of the generals of the Yang family was extensively circulated since the Song and Yuan dynasties.

Donnie Yen in "DRAGON" a Kung Fu/Sherlock Holmes type Movie, Kick and Pick up the pieces!

-Looks freaking amazing...

Director: Peter Ho-Sun Chan
Genre: Action, Drama
Coming out November 30, 2012

Donnie Yen
Takeshi Kaneshiro
Tang Wei
Jimmy Wang Yu

Plot: In the late Qing Dynasty, Liu (Donnie Yen) is a papermaker, leading a simple life with his wife Ayu (Tang Wei) and their two sons. Into their remote village comes Detective Xu (Takeshi Kaneshiro), who is investigating the deaths of two bandits during a robbery. Xu quickly realizes that the incident in question was no ordinary botched robbery -- and his dogged inquiry threatens to dredge up the dark secrets of Liu's buried past, threatening not only Liu and his family, but the entire village.

"In "Dragon" -- which was called "an exhilarating martial arts entertainment that modernizes the genre while re-emphasizing its strong points" by The Hollywood Reporter -- Yen plays Liu Jinxi. Jinxi at first appears to be nothing more than an innocent and oblivious villager caught up in the middle of a random act of crime in a small village in 1917 set to the backdrop of China’s transition from monarchy to republic. Naturally, there is more to Jinxi than initially meets the eye, and as events continue to unfold, more and more is revealed about the character. Eventually, the audience is unsure if he's the protagonist or actually the antagonist."

"The character you play in “Dragon” is more complex than your other recent roles: He’s a man seeking redemption from his murderous life but ultimately is forced to confront his past. Why did you take on the role?

I think every actor wants to try out different things. When audiences look at an action actor like myself, sometimes we are very easily stereotyped or characterized as one type. They forget that we are actors, too. We just make a lot of action movies. I was very fortunate — although I didn’t come from a classic background, I do have 30 years of experience making films. It’s just that marketing-wise, I’m always chosen to play these straight-up heroic roles."

"DRAGON, which stars Donnie Yen, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Kara Hui Ying-hung, Jimmy Wang Yu, and Tang Wei, has been described by Variety as ”a satisfyingly sinewy fusion of martial-arts actioner and brain-tickling noir.” The US DVD is tentatively slated for release in February / March, 2013."
