Generals of the Yang Family is a collection of folk tales, plays and novels detailing the military exploits of the Yang family over several generations during the earlier years of Northern Song Dynasty of ancient China. The stories recount the unflinching loyalty and remarkable bravery of the Yangs, and of how they defended Song's borders from foreign invaders. While several generals of the Yang family are profiled in historical texts such as History of Song, most of the popular tales deviate from actual historical records.
This album is adapted on the basis of the historical novel of the same name, which describes in the Northern Song Dynasty the generals of the Yang family resisted the invasion of the Liao Nation. Yang JiYe was the famous general of the Northern Han Dynasty in the Five Dynasties period who later submitted the Song Dynasty and changed his name into Yang Ye. Yang's family had a courageous and smart father and sons, who in the anti-liao war repeatedly distinguished themselves, but were framed by the chief commander Pan RenMei against death. Yang Liulang who survived the plot followed his father's footsteps and for many times frustrated the invading Liao army and successfully kept the integrity of the territory of the Song Dynasty. The legend of the generals of the Yang family was extensively circulated since the Song and Yuan dynasties.

Tens of thousands of children are abducted and sold on the black market in China every year. Reluctant to tackle or even acknowledge the issue, Chinese authorities offer no support to desperate parents.
I watch them every day, says Mr Sun looking at CCTV footage of his son moments before he was kidnapped. Children have become commodities for buying and selling. Like thousands of Chinese families, the Suns have received no support from the police and are continuing a desperate and risky search on their own. Parents like them are viewed as troublemakers. How dare you question the government? the police shouted as the parents took part in a protest. The government does not openly acknowledge the issue. According to Amnesty International, statistics at the provincial level or the national level on child trafficking are classified as state secrets. Many blame the countrys one-child policy: with parents often relying on sons to look after them in their old age, boys will sell for as much as $6,000.
