ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Hello everyone! Allow me to elaborate on the details of the portion of the Journey to the West I will be focusing on.

Book 1: The Monkey King

A mischievous, powerful monkey bursts out of a giant rock and begins to roam the nearby mountains. He soon stumbles upon a tribe of monkeys, who immediately crown him king. Life as king proves to be dull and monotonous for the Monkey King, and he leaves his beloved monkey clan to seek extreme strength, power and eternal life.

He goes on to master the art of shape shifting, find his secret weapon--an iron rod that shrinks and grows at his command, and eat an entire tree of magical peaches that grant eternal life.

However, throughout the Monkey King's quest for power, he causes trouble. A lotof trouble. First the Monkey King trashes the Dragon Palace in the depths of the ocean, and when that wasn't enough the Monkey King flies to the Jade Palace in the heavens to cause further havoc.

Book 1 ends with the Monkey King finally being put in his place. Buddha punishes him by trapping him underneath an enchanted mountain.

And...Book 2 will begin with the Monk freeing the Monkey King from his prison and embarking on their journey to retrieve the Buddhist scriptures!
